Detroit PAL is a non-profit organization positively impacting the lives of more than 14,000 children each year.
Our mission, in partnership with the Detroit Police Department and community volunteers, is to help youth find their greatness through athletic and enrichment programs.
Executive Director: April Boyle
Founded: Detroit PAL was founded in 1969 and is celebrating 50 years of service in the community. On March 24, 2018 Detroit PAL opened its new facility, The Corner Ballpark presented by Adient, located at the site of historic Tigers Stadium.
What makes Build Institute special?
Over the past 50 years, Detroit PAL has become part of the fabric of the city for families and the community. In that time, our organization has positively impacted more than 300,000 youth participants, changing their trajectory through various athletic, academic, and leadership development programs.
Corktown is a historic district located just west of downtown Detroit, Michigan, and it is the oldest existing neighborhood in the city. Corktown is a great mixture of residential and commercial properties. PAL wants to ensure that the history of family and community continues. It is exciting to be in a community where growth is taking place in all sectors. Ford Motor Company recently purchased the old train station that was a jewel of the city, but had remained vacant since 1988. The entire renovation will be completed by 2022. The Ford development, Detroit PAL, community groups and other businesses have made this area the hottest market in Detroit. PAL is excited to be a part of the resurgence of Detroit. We expect PAL will provide not only future employees but also future employers that will continue the legacy of family and community in Corktown.
