What makes the Gaelic League special?

For over 100 years, the Gaelic League has been a “Home away from Home” for the Irish in Detroit. GL is one of the few remaining fraternal organizations formed in 1920 and still in existence in the city of Detroit. Voluntarily based, our organization preserves and promotes the Irish culture of music, dance, and language to a diverse membership, as well as supporting Irish sports, Irish Genealogy, and Irish Radio show.

Why Corktown?

Corktown was home to many of the Irish coming to Detroit. The Irish first settled in this area when they immigrated from Ireland in the 1800s. Since our formation, our Irish social center has been located in Corktown.

How has the CBA impacted your business?

CBA leadership and support has united and strengthened the business community. Together we have a stronger voice and working relationship with the City.

What are some goals or upcoming announcements for the Gaelic League?

The Gaelic League recently celebrated its centennial anniversary. Currently, major, needed repairs and renovations to our building and funding for these projects are being addressed. The Gaelic League-Irish American is a membership organization. We will be celebrating Ireland's patron saint. We welcome the Public to join us on Parade Sunday, (3/12) and St. Patrick's Day (3/17) or become a member and enjoy our events all year.
